The sun under the sea
A selection of photos of my underwater trips through the blue planet, which remind me of "The coral reef",
this wonderful poem by José María de Heredia.
The sun under the sea, mysterious dawn,
Illuminates the forest of Abyssinian corals
Which mixes, in the depths of its lukewarm pools,
The beast blossoms and the living flora.
And whatever salt or iodine colors,
Moss, seaweed, anemones, sea urchins,
Covers in dark purple, in sumptuous designs,
The vermiculated bottom of the pale madrepore.
Of its splendid scale extinguishing the enamels,
A large fish sails through the twigs;
In the transparent shadow he lurks indomitably;
And suddenly, with a stroke of his fin on fire
It makes, by the dull crystal, motionless and blue,
Run a thrill of gold, mother of pearl and emerald.
